About htcomp.net
Hometown Computing, a wholly-owned subsidiary of htcomp.net®, inc., has been a
leading provider of Internet services to the Central Texas region since
1996. Hometown Computing was founded to deliver leading-edge
services to rural areas and continues to be in the forefront of deploying
advanced technologies.
Hometown Computing has grown from just a few modem lines in Cleburne to a
regional ISP with access points scattered throughout Central Texas.
Hometown Computing has lead the charge to bring advanced services to Central
Texas and was among the first companies to offer virtually every advanced
service deployed in this area in the last six years. Among the
technologies Hometown Computing has delivered are:
- Hometown Computing was the first ISP in many of the areas we serve,
including Cleburne, Hamilton, Gatesville, Clifton, Meridian, Carlton, and
Alexander.
- Hometown Computing was among the first ISPs to deploy 56KFlex technology,
giving rural customers access to higher speed services.
- Hometown Computing has been a leader in hosting high-profile web
sites. With over 500 domains currently hosted, Hometown Computing has
the experience and the capacity to handle the most demanding sites.
- Hometown Computing has
consistently leveraged Internet technologies to improve the customer
experience. Customers can completely control their account on-line
through the innovative Customer
Center.
This on-line tool allows customers to change their passwords, check their
email, see how much their account has been used, even see every invoice
issued on the account for the last several months or pay their bill
on-line.
- Hometown Computing has been at the forefront of delivering broadband
access to customers through wireless technologies. With operational
wireless systems in Hamilton, Gatesville, Stephenville, Clifton, and
Comanche, Hometown Computing has Central Texas covered
with broadband. Hometown Computing operates wireless access points in cooperation
with United Cooperative Services in Meridian, Glen Rose, and Possum Kingdom.
- Hometown Computing continues to take the lead in delivering
next-generation technologies. Our efforts have not gone
unnoticed. The Public Utility Commission of Texas has singled out the
Hometown Computing community of Hamilton as one of the most connected towns
in the state. The Waco Tribune Herald has featured
Hometown Computing on the front page. The Dallas Morning News did
a feature story on Hometown Computing efforts at wiring rural Texas.
- Hometown Computing has consistently partnered with leading Central Texas
companies to rapidly deploy Internet technologies. Hometown Computing
and USA Pathway, a Competitive
Local Exchange telephone company, have teamed to deliver Internet access to
parts of Texas that otherwise would be without. Places like Carlton,
Alexander, Donie, Modena, and Dolores have benefited from the two companies
working together. Hometown Computing has joined forces with United
Cooperative Services to deploy wireless broadband throughout the Central
Texas region.
- Hometown Computing offers spam filtering tools at no additional charge to
every dial-up customer. Hometown Computing has teamed with Postini,
Inc. to make the world-class Postini mail filtering system available to
Hometown Computing customers.
From dial-up to wireless, from domain hosting to complex on-line merchant
sites, Hometown Computing has the capacity, experience, and skills necessary to make you
successful on the Internet.
